Banknote Paper Security
Secuwire™ Magnetic Fibres
Secuwire™ magnetic fibres enable a novel, deeply covert banknote authentication methodology based on a unique magnetic signature. These thin, almost invisible fibres are incorporated into banknote paper on the paper-making machine using a proprietary additional process easily integrated within the machine. Once these fibres become part of a finished banknote, their authentication, and therefore reliable confirmation of the banknote’s authenticity, is automatic and very quick. A special sensor incorporated into the banknote sorting and counting machine will provide a definitive yes/no response by reading the Secuwire™ magnetic signature at high speed. Advanced nanotechnology used in the manufacture of Secuwire™ fibres makes their counterfeiting virtually impossible. Secuwire™ has already won recognition and has become a key feature of a major national currency.
Security Threads
Security threads are a reliable security feature that have become a widely-recognised pillar of counterfeit protection for banknotes and other documents worldwide. While providing authentication on both overt and covert levels, threads often offer higher security than applied foils as they are integrated directly into the substrate as part of the complicated and highly technical paper-making process which lies at the very origins of making any security document. Threads are widely used in banknotes, but are also increasingly becoming part of other security documents such as tax stamps, forms and certificates.
Andrews & Wykeham supply banknote and security threads (0.5 mm – 4 mm wide) of the following types:
- holographic thread, including demetallised text
- microprinted thread
- colourswitch thread, including demetallised text
- moiré thread
